Week ending 23rd November

Mark 4 31 It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth.
This week in Worship we thought about bringing hope to others. We talked about the parable of the mustard seed. On Monday we raised a fantastic £343-12 for Children in Need. Thank you to Mrs Pearson and the school council for such a great day. We talked about how our contribution added to everyone else’s would really make a difference to children’s lives.
The boys cross country team came seventh overall on Saturday out of 30 schools. We were the highest finishing one form entry school. Well done—a tremendous effort especially those who persevered round the very muddy course. Great team work.
On Tuesday the girls rugby team came third in the inter schools competition. Congratulations to them in very wet, windy and muddy conditions.
On Wednesday Year 6 visited CWR radio. They talked to the producers, editors and presenters as part of their work on Journalistic Writing. They even took part in a live broadcast! You can hear them by clicking in the Audioboo on my blog. Visit Year 6 blog for more details.
Also on Wednesday we ran a very successful course and 20 parents learnt to use Twitter as well as how to keep their child safe on social media sites. Mr Blaylock tweeted “Excellent informative evening into the world of twitter. Thank you St John’s for introducing me to this new world”. @Stjohnscoventry
On Thursday, we held a Parent Workshop on Phonics and Reading. Keep reading to your child. Next week we have a guest speaker on writing and maths in Foundation Stage.
Today the choir had their final practice for Choir Idol in Broadgate on Sunday. Join us if you can. They sounded great and we hope they will do well. It will be a great experience and hopefully we will help raise some money for the Rotary Club as well. Finally thank you for all your chocolate donations today. We will have a tremendous chocolate tombola at St Christopher’s Church Christmas Fare tomorrow. Please come and try to win it back.
This week please pray for people who feel they are in hopeless situations.
